The Orange Democratic Movement has moved to stop growing confusion about the leadership of its Youth League after a publication circulated during the party anniversary event in Mombasa.

The document claimed that political activist Kasmuel McOure was the Youth League President, sparking many questions among party supporters.

In a statement issued on Saturday morning, the party insisted that the information was false and that Johnmark Ketorah remained the legitimate Youth League President.

“The President of the ODM Youth League is Honourable Johnmark Ketorah. Ignore any publication circulating containing misleading information on the same,” read the ODM statement.

The mix-up began on Friday, November 14, 2025, during the party's twentieth anniversary celebrations in Mombasa County, where a newsletter listed McOure as a key leader in several positions.

This raised concerns about the authenticity of the publication and whether the party had quietly changed its structure without informing members.

While Kasmuel is well known as an active ODM supporter, he has not secured any major leadership role.

In 2024, he was appointed by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as part of the youth and student league team, where he has been helping in mobilising young people.

Johnmark, who first took office in 2016 after a recommendation by fellow youth league members, has continued to play a key role in shaping the future of the party.

The clarification also comes two days after ODM confirmed several leadership changes.

Siaya Senator Oburu Onginga was approved as the party leader, while Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, Kisii Governor Simba Arati and Vihiga Senator Geoffrey Osoti were endorsed as deputy party leaders.

Kasmuel, who has remained vocal in party activities, was last seen on Thursday, November 13, 2025, blowing a trumpet inside a train during a youth mobilisation activity.
