Kenya's music scene continues to grow at an impressive pace, and new data from YouTube shows which local hits dominated viewership in 2025. The rankings highlight a strong blend of gospel, gengetone, and contemporary Afro-fusion sounds that captured national attention and amassed millions of views within months of release.

Leading the chart is “Amefanya Mungu” by Wapendwa Muziki, which secured the top position with 17 million views. The song’s uplifting message and wide cross-generational appeal helped push it ahead of other major releases, making it one of the biggest Kenyan gospel breakouts of the year.

Coming in second is “Mpishi” by MATATA featuring Bien, a collaboration that blends MATATA’s energetic style with Bien’s signature vocal performance. The track gathered 14 million views, tying closely with other major contenders and solidifying MATATA’s influence in Kenya’s digital music space.

Sharing the same viewership milestone is “Donjo Maber” by Iyanii featuring Dufla Diligon, also standing at 14 million views. The song’s catchy rhythm and street-inspired feel helped it resonate widely with younger audiences, boosting its performance on both YouTube and social media trends.

In fourth place is “Taya” by Okello Max, which drew 12 million views. The track’s mix of Afro-fusion and Luo cultural elements gave it a strong following across regions, contributing to its steady rise on digital platforms.

Rounding out the Top 5 is “Backbencher” by Toxic Lyrikali, earning 10 million views. The song’s relatable storytelling and lyrical style made it a standout release among emerging Kenyan artists in 2025.

The overall rankings reflect the continued dominance of Kenyan acts on YouTube, where local content remains highly consumed and celebrated. The diversity of genres within the top five also highlights a widening audience appetite, ranging from inspirational gospel to club-ready urban tracks.

With the growing influence of digital platforms in shaping musical success, these numbers reinforce YouTube’s role as one of the most important spaces for Kenyan artists in 2025 and a key indicator of shifting tastes among listeners nationwide.
